CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy) data show the unemployment rate rose from 7.1% in May to 7.8% in June with rural unemployment rising by 1.4 percentage points to 8% in rural India while the unemployment rate in urban India declined by 0.9 percentage points to 7.3%, which is the lowest unemployment rate in India in 16 months.
